BACKGROUND:
Ocala Main Street is devoted to generating economic vitality throughout Ocala. Understanding the essential roll youth and the next generation of workers play in this process, they have chosen to invest in the future of first responders. With this donation, Ocala Main Street intends to foster Ocala-Marion Mentorship cadets’ interest in firefighting by ensuring necessary educational items and materials are available.
FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:
Ocala Main Street has generously donated $8,453 to the Ocala-Marion Mentorship Program. This donation will continue to benefit aspiring firefighters.

This will be deposited into Fire’s general ledger account 001-019-019-522-52-52010.

BUDGET RESOLUTION 2023-142
A RESOLUTION AMENDING THE FISCAL YEAR 2022-2023 BUDGET TO ACCEPT A DONATION FROM OCALA MAIN STREET TO THE OCALA-MARION MENTORSHIP PROGRAM IN THE AMOUNT OF $8,453
WHEREAS, Ocala Main Street contacted Ocala Fire Rescue to donate $8,453 to the Ocala-Marion Mentorship Program; and
WHEREAS, the Ocala-Marion Mentorship Program will be able to purchase necessary materials; and
WHEREAS, this donation will continue to help youth in the community with aspirations of becoming firefighters.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OCALA, FLORIDA, duly assembled in regular session, assembled that the City of Ocala shall accept the donation of $8,453 from Ocala Main Street.
