BACKGROUND:
On June 6, 2023, City Council approved the use of a Lee County cooperative agreement with Evoqua Water Technologies, LLC (Evoqua) for wastewater odor and corrosion control. On May 7, 2024, Lee County approved an extension to the original agreement, to expire November 13, 2024.

The odor and corrosion control project requires an experienced contractor to provide a cost-effective and comprehensive program for the Water Resources department. The wastewater system for the City of Ocala consists of two zones: the wastewater collection system and the Water Reclamation Facilities.

FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:
The Water Resources department is seeking approval to extend the existing agreement, in conjunction with Lee County, with an expiration date of November 13, 2024. Evoqua has agreed to continue its current pricing until that expiration as outlined below.

Evoqua has demonstrated effectiveness at controlling odors. Under this new contract, the price increased by approximately 28 percent. Staff recommends approval and will continue evaluating other technologies.

FISCAL IMPACT:
The Water Resources department has sufficient funding in Fiscal Year 2023-24, in account 455-030-303-535-53-52010, in the amount of $562,000. Funds will be appropriated in Fiscal Year 2024-25 in the amount of $48,000 for the duration of the extension.
