BACKGROUND:
Surplus parcel #25654-000-00 is a 0.20 acre lot and bordered by Marilyn Laye’s property on one side and Robert and Evella Maxwell’s property on the other. The two property owners request to purchase the half of the surplus parcel that borders their property. Please see the attached conceptual sketch for further details.
Marilyn Laye requests to purchase the west half of the surplus parcel that totals 4,409 square feet for a contract price of $4,409. The Broker’s opinion of value is $1.00 per square foot based on recent sales in the area. The contract for the east half of the parcel with Robert and Evella Maxwell will follow in a separate agenda item.
FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:
Upon the acceptance of the contract, a legal description for each new parcel will be produced. The new legal descriptions will be used to create new parcel numbers. Staff has reviewed the proposed sale and supports the transaction subject to Council’s approval. Staff recommends approval.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The revenue generated from the sale will be deposited into Account String #001-364-000-000-16-36429.
PROCUREMENT REVIEW:
The Contract for Sale and Purchase has been reviewed by the Procurement and Contracting Officer in compliance with the City’s policy.
LEGAL REVIEW:
The Contract for Sale and Purchase has been reviewed and approved for form and legality by City Attorney, William E. Sexton.
